Research Interests:
My research interests are primarily centered on issues of (nation-) state building, violence, ethnicity & (post-) conflict, borderization and mobility politics. My main geographic focus at the moment is the semi-recognized Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of Georgia, where I look at both the materiality of uncertainty and immobility through borderization processes initiated by the de-facto state and the affect it has on the lives of people living in those borderlands.
