My research and expertise focused on the identification of natural bacteria for potential use as biofertilisers.
Training as an Engineer in Biotechnology, and subsequently completing a Masters Degree in environmental studies, at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico engrained my passion for sustainable projects.
In 2014 I moved to the UK where I completed a PhD focusing on plant-bacteria interactions at Oxford University. During my time as a postdoctoral researcher at Oxford gained valuable innovation and business skills by joining interdisciplinary programs such as Innovation Champions at the Oxford University Innovation Department and Ideas 2 Impact at the Saïd Business School.
Since 2019 my work at AU has focused on establishing efficient nitrogen fixation as a breeding target in Vicia faba.
I am passionate about finding ways to achieve sustainable agriculture by making research more innovative, open, and closely linked with industrial application.
