Profile

Majken Kirkegård Rasmussen is an Associate Professor in the School of Communication and Culture, Department of Digital Design and Information Studies at Aarhus University. Her background is in design, with a Master’s degree in Product Design and Architecture, from Aarhus School of Architecture. She holds a PhD in Computer Science at Aarhus University, on shape-changing interfaces. Her research focuses on the intersection between physical form and interaction, specifically shape-changing interfaces and objects, non-humanoid robots, and tangible user interfaces. Since 2012 she has been a key force in framing the field of shape-changing interfaces internationally. Beyond the field of shape-changing interfaces, she has furthermore worked with; tangible and interaction design, interactive sports, sketching and interactive materials. She has considerable experience with working interdisciplinary, with people from individuals from diverse academic backgrounds, ranging from computer science, philosophy, chemistry, physics, sports science, design, anthropology, psychology, and architecture.
