Mads Daugbjerg

Associate professor, head of department

My main research concerns the intersections and grey zones between heritage practices, experience-oriented tourism and identity work. Under these broad headings, I explore issues related to (e.g.) the meaning and power of specific sites; the re-enactment of the past in various contexts; the heritage of war, both relating to historical and ongoing conflicts; and the so-called experience economy and what we should take an experience to be and mean in various contexts. Besides my teaching and supervision at the Aarhus Anthropology department, I also contribute to the university's interdisciplinary MA programmes in Sustainable Heritage Management and Experience Economy. Since 2018, I have served as Head of Department at Aarhus University's Department of Anthropology.
