Personal profile
Research
I am an epidemiologist specializing in register-based research, dedicated to improving psychotropic medication treatment for individuals with mental disorders. My research intersects pharmacoepidemiology and psychiatry, focusing on the safety, effectiveness, and long-term effects of psychotropic use before, during, and after pregnancy. And I aim to generate evidence on its impact on both parental well-being and child health to support clinical and public health decisions.
Profile
As a senior researcher, I specialize in register-based epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology, with a particular focus on expectant and new parents. My research examines the impact of mental disorders and psychotropic medication use during preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum on parental and offspring health outcomes. I have a background in epidemiology and biostatistics. I am a board member of the Danish Society for Pharmacoepidemiology and the Nordic PharmacoEpidemiological Network(NorPEN).
Commissioned
I am a statistical reviewer for JAMA Network Open and Academic editor for PLOS One.
Furthermore, I am a scientific Advisory Panel member of European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP).
I am also a board member of Danish Society for Pharmacoepidemiology.
Teaching
I teach and supervise in the fields of pharmacoepidemiology and psychiatric epidemiology at Aarhus University. My teaching primarily focuses on epidemiological study design and methods. I teach in two PhD courses: Introduction to Register-Based Research and Psychiatric Epidemiology. Additionally, I lecture two junior seminars at our center on directed acyclic graphs and confounding.
Job responsibilities
Working as a senior researcher includes a variety of tasks, among other things:
· Register-based research in pharmacoepidemiology and psychiatric epidemiology, with a focus on expectant parents and their children.
· Supervision of PhD students, postdocs, research assistants, statisticians, and visiting researchers.
· Teaching in register-based research and psychiatric epidemiology.
· Maintenance of data sources for research.
· Project management
· Dissemination of research findings.
