Research

My reserach centers on singing culture. Currently, I am researching Danish communal singing culture with a special emphasis on the limits of social inclusion. Through ethnographic methods I explore the communal singing practices and perceptions of the Danes, focussing especially on the ways in which singing can be experienced as excluding and problematic. Moreover, I have had a longstanding interest in the intermedial interplay of words and music in songs.
