Profile

Lars Vabbersgaard Andersen, b. 1975, is MSc in Structural and Civil Engineering from Aalborg University, 1999. He graduated as PhD in Civil Engineering after defending his thesis Wave Propagation in Infinite Structures and Media at Aalborg University, 2002. After three years as assistant professor in coastal engineering, he became associate professor in geotechnical engineering, at Department of Civil Engineering, Aalborg University. His main fields of teaching and research have been numerical methodsground vibrationsoil-structure interactionoffshore windbuilding acousticsstructural analysisconstitutive modelling, and statistical analysis. He has supervised 17 PhD students and more than 70 MSc students within these areas, and he has published over 150 papers in high-ranking scientific journals and international conference proceedings. He has been involved in several research projects focused on cost reduction of foundations for offshore wind turbines as well as dynamic soil–structure interaction. In 2017, he was appointed Full Professor of Computational Methods in Civil Engineering at Department of Engineering, Aarhus University. After a major reorganization of the faculty, since 2021 Prof. Andersen has been Head of Section for Structural Engineering within the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering.
