Personal profile
Research
I conduct research on the development and evaluation of cross-sectoral and municipal rehabilitation interventions, focusing on co-creation between practice, research, and education. My research aims to improve functioning, performance of activities of daily living and quality of life for people undergoing rehabilitation and to promote social equity in health. I have solid experience in evaluating effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and processes, ensuring that research findings can both inform decision-makers and be effectively implemented in practice.
Profile
I hold a joint position between Aarhus University and DEFACTUM, Central Denmark Region. I am a trained occupational therapist with a Master’s degree in Health Sciences and a PhD from Aarhus University. My primary research focus is the development and evaluation of complex rehabilitation interventions. I lead the research programme Practice Oriented Rehabilitation Research (Sammen om Praksisnær Rehabiliteringsforskning) together with professor Thomas Maribo. I supervise Master- and PhD students, and chair a group of researcher at DEFACTUM working with practice-oriented interventions and health economics.
Commissioned
Based on my research, I advise healthcare organisations and decision-makers on developing effective and cost-efficient rehabilitation programmes. I actively participate in research networks and advisory boards, contributing expertise in health economic analyses and evidence-based methods. My advice focuses on creating a strong decision-making foundation for the healthcare system by promoting cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
Cooperation and dissemination
I collaborate with municipalities, regions, educational institutions, as well as national and international researchers on the development and evaluation of interventions based on both solid evidence and practice-based needs. I co-lead the research programme Practice-Oriented Rehabilitation Research (SPR) with Professor Thomas Maribo. The programme is a strategic collaboration between Aarhus University, Central Denmark Region, VIA University College, Aarhus Municipality, Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, and MarselisborgCentre.
Teaching
I teach methods for developing, testing, evaluating, and implementing complex interventions in prevention and rehabilitation at the Master's Programme in Health Sciences. My teaching is based on practice-oriented examples and evidence-based methods, focusing on enabling students to apply research findings in practice. I supervise both Master's and PhD students and have developed teaching materials that promote critical thinking and independent learning.
Job responsibilities
My primary responsibility is to develop and evaluate rehabilitation programmes focusing on both effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. I work closely with municipalities, regions, and educational institutions to ensure that research addresses practice-based needs. As the programme leader for Practice-Oriented Rehabilitation Research, I strive to ensure that research is conducted in dialogue with practice, enabling results to be effectively implemented and to support coherent rehabilitation efforts across sectors.
