Personal profile

Profile

As a researcher, I am interested in the role of the immune system in the development and treatment of diseases, in particular cancers. In my work, I primarily deal with the interplay between the innate immune system and cancer, and our understanding of the mechanisms underlying new potential treatments. I am also interested in whether biomarkers can tell us if treatments are working as intended. I am a medical doctor and PhD, and I am concurrently undertaking continued medical training.

Job responsibilities

My primary area of responsibility is experimental and translational research in the interplay between immune cells and cancer cells. I primarily work with innate immune cells known as macrophages. In addition, I work with the development and testing of new immune-related biomarkers within a variety of disease entities. I also contribute to supervision of master’s students and PhD students.
