The main focus is on underlying physiological and immunological regulatory mechanisms involved in the aetiology of diseases. This includes changes in and regulation of metabolism, nutrient partitioning, appetite, and relationship to factors in the immune system in particularly in the periparturient dairy cow.  Further, the research area has been to describe biological biomarkers in milk, blood, and urine that may be potential markers for subclinical disease, physiological imbalance, and suboptimal performance, and usable in health and production management systems. Finally, my research involves development and investigation of new non-invasive technology for early identification of diseases with special focus on liver status, mastitis and claw and leg diseases.
