Research:
Research areas include; international educational research in western and non-western educational contexts; psychological-educational processes and practices in schools and higher education; the role of everyday life learning, life-history and processes of becoming and subjectification for teaching professionals in complex educational institutions; teachers’ and student-teachers’ professional identity and professionalization; the connections between formal and informal learning, health/education and practice in education institutions; professionalization and the professional development of education professionals; and the role of narrative learning and life-history in ‘lived life’ for the construction of teachers’ professionalism and educational practices. The work can be characterized as theoretically informed empirical work, which draws on a body of interrelated work in the field of learning theory, professional studies, organizational theory, cultural analysis and theory about human becoming and subjectification. It is theoretically inspired by sociocultural learning theory and critical theory, everyday life learning, phenomenology, organizational and cultural analysis, which is combined with a poststructuralistic psychodynamic view. Methodologically the work draws on a broad ethnographic approach using fieldwork, participant observation and action research as a strategy to include informants. Narrative inquiry and life history research in long-term perspectives are other research strategies.
