From Web to Workplace: Designing Open Hypermedia Systems

Research output: Book/anthology/dissertation/reportBookResearch

  • Department of Computer Science

Grønbæk and Trigg's book provides a solid foundation for systems and HCI researchers working in the areas of open and distributed systems, multi-user collaboration and coordination, and user-centered design. It addresses research issues that currently plague researchers, including such problems as versioning, collaborative authoring, synchronization, annotation, and cross-application structuring. The authors have operated in a user-centered design paradigm from the beginning, and this perspective is evident throughout the work. Their depth of experience enables them to provide a richly nuanced historical and technical background, with an extensive bibliography that ranges from Doug Engelbart's work on Augment(arguably the first CSCW projcet) in the 1960s to the most current proceedings on open hypermedia systems.
