I am an associate professor in Danish literature, languages and literatures (L1). My research areas are literacy, particularly students' writing and writing development, educational linguistics, and the subject of Danish in primary and lower secondary education. From 2022 to 2025, I am leading the qualitative text- and classroom study Writing Education, where we explore and develop new concepts for understanding the relationships between students' writing and metalinguistic repertoires in various writing situations in Year 5 and 8. The project is funded by the Carlsberg Foundation.
I am the primary supervisor for three PhD students: Line Kjærgaard Larsen, Lise Olsen, and Eva Lindhardt, and for one postdoctoral researcher: Morten Tannert.
Previous supervision (co-supervisor): Margit Eva Jensen and Maria Kirstine Østergaard.
Research
In two completed cross-institutional and interdisciplinary research projects, I have contributed to investigating students' early writing development (ATEL, 2018-2023) and games and literacies in upper primary school in Danish L1 and science subjects (GBL21, 2017-2023). Additionally, I have been principal investigator, along with two colleagues, of a large focused ethnographic study on grammar teaching practices in first and foreign language subjects in schools (Gramma3, 2018-2019).
I am a member of the steering committee for the Nordic Network for Literature Education Research, where we carry out Nordic research collaborations (see, for example, the joint article Literature Education in Nordic L1’s from 2020 and the special issue of L1 Educational Studies in Language and Literature from December 2021), as well as annual seminars, also for PhD students. I am also elected steering committee member in the International Society for the Advancement of Writing Research (ISAWR) since 2023. Additionally, I am a member of the steering committees for the Nordic Network for L1 Education Research, NNFF (since 2018), and the local Danish network DaDi (since 2013).
