Personal profile
Research
Studies of transport mechanism, structure, regulation, and pathophysiology of ion pumps and lipid pumps (P-type ATPases: Ca-ATPase, Na,K-ATPase and phospholipid flippases) in cell membranes. Site-directed mutagenesis is combined with state-of-the-art enzyme kinetic measurements on mutant pump proteins expressed in cell culture to elucidate the mechanistic roles of the individual amino acid residues in the transport and the basis for genetic disorders caused by mutations in these proteins.
