1987                     Bachelor degree in chemistry and physics from University of Aarhus.

1991                     Cand. scient. degree in chemistry (solid-state NMR spectroscopy and inorganic chemistry)

from University of Aarhus.

1994                     Ph. D. degree in chemistry (solid-state NMR and materials science) from University of Aarhus.

1994-1996            Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Aarhus

1996-1997            Post doc, Department of Chemistry, University of British Columbia, Vancouver B. C. Canada (1 year)

1997-1999            Research assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Aarhus.

1999-2000            Research associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Aarhus.

2000-                    Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Aarhus. 

 

Publications: 77 publications in peer reviewed international journals, including 65 full papers, 5 communications, 5 papers in peer reviewed proceedings, and 2 book chapters.

Administration and memberships: Member of the board for the Danish Society for Molecular Spectroscopy (since 2001, chairman since 2003) under the Danish Chemical Society. Member of the board of the Danish Chemical Society (since 2005) and of "Universiteternes Betonforskning" (since 1998). Academic contractor of NANOCEM (http://www.nanocem.net/) - a European network on the chemistry and performance of cement and concrete (since 2004). Participant in the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO, http://www.inano.dk/), Aarhus University (since 2004). Local organizer of the Aarhus Winter Meetings (2005 and 2006) under the Danish Chemical Society. Principal administrator of grants from SNF, STVF, and Carlsbergfondet. Co-investigator on grants given to the Instrument Centre for Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy from SNF and Forskningsstyrelsen.

Research group: Supervisor for 2 Ph.D. students, 1 master student, and 1 bachelor students. Extensive contacts and collaboration with national and international academic institutions and companies (e.g., Haldor Topsøe A/S, Aalborg Portland A/S, Saint Gobain Research Center in Materials (Paris)). Part of the academic team at the Danish Instrument Centre for Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy, University of Aarhus.

Teaching (since 2000): 2000-2005: Solid-state NMR spectroscopy in materials science (10 ECTS, lectures, tutorials, experimental exercises), 2000: Applied spectroscopy (10 ECTS, tutorials), 2001-2003: Inorganic and Physical chemistry - geology (15 ECTS, lectures, tutorials, experimental exercises, exam), 2003: General Physical Chemistry  - biology (10 ECTS, lectures, exam), 2004: General Chemistry  - chemistry (5 ECTS, experimental exercises), 2004: General Chemistry  - chemistry (5 ECTS, tutorials), 2004 - 2006: General chemistry  - biology and geology (5 ECTS, lectures, tutorials, exam).

Other: ~ 30 oral presentations at international conferences and research institutions. ~ 25 oral presentations at Danish conferences and meetings. Referee for Journal of Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Langmuir, Journal of  Solid-State Chemistry, Cement and Concrete Composites, Cement and Concrete Research, Journal of the American Ceramic Society, Polyhedron, Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry,  Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Research interests: Solid-state NMR spectroscopy (new methods and applications, quadrupolar nuclei), materials science (nanostructured materials, cement-based materials, heterogeneous catalysts), Density Functional Theory calculations (NMR parameters and structural refinements) inorganic and physical chemistry (zeolites, clays, minerals, phase transitions, relationships between physical properties and local structural features).
