Personal profile

Research

Through more than 40 years of employment at Aarhus University, I have worked with topics in mathematical statistics and modeling of biological experiments. In particular, I have worked with asymptotic inference including saddlepoint approximations, which are designed to give a small relative error even for very small probabilities. I have worked with probabilistic models for the evolution of DNA and spent a period of time at Aarhus University Hospital, where I mainly worked with classification based on microarray data. In recent years, I have worked together with researchers from political science on the use of the NIG distribution.

Teaching

In recent years, I have participated in the development of the data science education and I am the head of the degree programme. We are currently working on the establishment of an English-language version of the bachelor's programme. Throughout my university career, I have been active in teaching and have written a large amount of notes over the years. The latest additions are web-based interactive notes in applied statistics.
