Jiayi Li

Profile

Jiayi (Kayee) Li is currently a Ph.D student at the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering’s Section of Design and Construction. She joined Aarhus University in 2022 and study in field of timber buildings.

Jiayi has been interested in timber buildings since 2014. During her undergraduate studies, she first completed a student project at Northeast Forestry University (NEFU, China) on "The effect of internal force arms on the force performance of glued laminated timber beams". In 2018, Jiayi completed a summer course at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU, Denmark) - Wooden Structure. In 2019, Jiayi studied as a visiting student in Jorge Almazán's architecture laboratory at KEIO University (Japan), researching digital fabrication techniques for wooden buildings. In 2020, she completed her MSc project in the field of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) - electromechanical characterisation of cement-based piezoelectric sensors. Received her M.Sc in Civil Engineering from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (Beihang University, BUAA, China). After the graduation, Jiayi work as a structural engineer at Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University (THAD, China). She has worked on the structural design of indoor ski slopes, residential houses, teaching buildings and cultural and tourism centres. Also involved in 3D printed house project in collaboration with the Department of Architecture and Department of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University.
