Scientific work

Research in ion transporting ATPases and other membrane transporters. Presently leader of research group investigating structure-function relationship, mechanism, and pathophysiology of Ca2+-pumps and lipid pumps (“flippases”) by use of site-directed mutagenesis in combination with enzyme kinetic studies. We have established state of the art quenched flow transient kinetic methodology for analysis of all the partial reaction steps of expressed ATPase mutants. Collaborations with several laboratories in North America, South Africa and Europe. By 2018 author of 144 internationally published articles. H-index 43. Invited plenary speaker at >60 international conferences and workshops.
