As the Head of the Monogastric Nutrition Research Unit, I dedicate 50% of my time to leading and advancing research in pig nutrition, and more recently, insect nutrition. My primary role involves being an integral part of the department management group, facilitating internal collaborations, hiring new staff, maintaining daily contact with team members, and fostering staff development.
My research primarily revolves around the nutrition and physiology of pigs, with a strong emphasis on applied research. The main objectives are to optimize pig production while minimizing environmental and climate impacts. I am involved in several projects that focus on product development and the documentation of the nutritive value of new sustainable feedstuffs. These projects are conducted in collaboration with both the scientific community and industry partners.
Currently, I am expanding our research to include methane emissions from pigs and exploring the nutrition of insects in commercial production. These initiatives are part of my ongoing efforts to contribute to sustainable and innovative solutions in animal nutrition.
