Profile
I am working on projects within nutrition and physiology of pigs with a focus on applied research. The objectives are often to optimize pig production while minimizing the environmental impact. Main keywords are: feed, feedstuff and nutrient utilization, as well as utilization and requirement of especially protein, amino acids and minerals. Several of my projects are on product development and documentation of nutritive value of new feedstuffs and feed additives in collaboration with both the scientific environment and the industry. Preparing and participation in applications for funding from local, national, and international foundations and companies is a central and interesting part of the work. I teach in Danish and English on several courses in animal nutrition and physiology, and I am main supervisor for both master and PhD students. My educational background and 4 years of full time work experiences from primary pig production often allows me to look at an issue from both a scientific and a practical point of view.
