Chronic constipation refractory to conservative treatment is a devastating condition. This condition leads to a significant negative impact on the patient's quality of life1 . Several aggressive surgical options have been offered to these patients including total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis and segmental colectomy or stoma, but the morbidity and the long term functional outcomes are unsatisfactory2 .
