Profile

My working area is health and welfare in pig herds in a broad sense. Using my background in disease diagnostics, pathology and epidemiology, I have conducted research on e.g. sow mortality, tail biting and diarrhoea in weaners. In parallel with this and in close collaboration with colleagues from social science I also work more and more in the qualitative field. Thus, performing interviews and working with approaches such as Living Lab are also parts of my research approach. I feel that combining different fields of research is fruitful for an improved understanding of barriers and possibillities in relation to reduced usage of antibiotics and improved welfare in pig herds.

In addition to my research, I teach master-level students in Agrobiology in the courses Animal Production, Health and Welfare and Organic Livestock Farming and supervise bachelor-, master- and Phd-students.
