Research areas


George Xydis, PhD had the opportunity to work in the wind sector together with developers, utilities, constructors, universities, and research institutes. He used to work as a Wind Projects Development Coordinator at Iberdrola Renewables, as a Wind Project Developer at Vector Hellenic Windfarms S.A., and as a Researcher in the Center for Electric Power and Energy, Department of Electrical Engineering at Technical University of Denmark. He is now an Associate Professor at the Center for Energy Technologies, Department of Business Development and Technology, Aarhus University.

He used to collaborate with the Open University of Cyprus and the International Hellenic University as an adjunct lecturer, where he taught courses in renewable energy, sustainable production and consumption, energy economics, and GIS. As a freelancer, he had the chance to collaborate with the Green Fund, GSF Capital, Volkswind GmbH, and other institutes and SMEs.

George’s research interests include Wind Resource Assessment, Energy Resources Optimization, Energy Policy, Energy Planning, Exergy Analysis, Demand Response, Electricity Markets and Forecasting.

He has co-authored more than 100 publications in international journals, conferences, books and book chapters, and serves as an Associate Editor in Frontiers in Energy Systems & Policy and in Energy & Environment. He holds a PhD from National Technical University of Athens, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

George is an adjunct lecturer at Johns Hopkins University at Energy Policy and Climate program. He teaches 425.624 - Wind Energy: Science, Technology and Policy.
