George Xydis, PhD had the opportunity to work in the wind sector together with developers, utilities, constructors, universities, and research institutes. He used to work as a Wind Projects Development Coordinator at Iberdrola Renewables, as a Wind Project Developer at Vector Hellenic Windfarms S.A., and as a Researcher at the Center for Electric Power and Energy, Department of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark. He has been since Feb. 2017 with the Center for Energy Technologies, Dept. of Business Development and Technology at Aarhus University as an Associate Professor and since Jan 2023 as a Full Professor.
He used to collaborate with the Open University of Cyprus and the International Hellenic University as an adjunct lecturer, where he taught courses in renewable energy, sustainable production and consumption, energy economics, and GIS. As a freelancer, he had the chance to collaborate with the Green Fund, GSF Capital, Volkswind GmbH, and other institutes and SMEs.
George’s research interests include Wind Resource Assessment, Energy Resources Optimization, Energy Policy, Energy Planning, Exergy Analysis, Demand Response, Electricity Markets and Forecasting.
He has co-authored over 120 publications featured in international journals, in addition to numerous contributions to international conferences, books, and book chapters. He serves as an Associate Editor in Frontiers in Energy Systems & Policy and in Energy & Environment. He holds a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
George also works as an adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University in Energy Policy and Climate program. He teaches 425.624 - Wind Energy: Science, Technology and Policy.
