1941.                                   Born 22. June in Nørresundby, Denmark.

1966.               Graduated from University of Aarhus, Denmark, majoring in X-ray and neutron crystallography.

1966-67.                                     Military service.

1967-69.                                     Post.doc. at Department of Chemistry, University of Aarhus.

1969-71.                             Resarch Associate at State University of New York at Buffalo.

1971-                             Lektor (Associate Professor) at University of Aarhus.

1987-89.                   Head of Department of Chemistry at University of Aarhus

1995-2004.       Budget responsible for the Inorganic Laboratory. Prime mover for

successful “Rammeansøgninger” and applications for X-radiffractometers, X-ray generators and cooling equipment for use in the Inorganic Laboratory.

1996-2003.           Member of the board for DANSYNC, the organization of Danish users of

hard X-ray synchrotron radiation facilities.



Director of Nordic Research Ph.D. Training courses, 1988, 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2004 on Applications of X-ray Synchrotron Radiation in Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Medicine, University of Aarhus, Denmark

Research interests: Accurate crystallographic studies of electron density distributions in solid state materials, in particular novel magnetic materials and oxidation catalysts consisting of polynuclear and polymetallic complexes including mixed valence  transition metals. Also studies of the nature of very short, strong hydrogen bonds due to their fundamental interest and to their importance in molecular recognition processes. The necessary tools and techniques are multi-temperature diffraction measurements using short wavelength X-radiation (conventional and synchrotron) and neutrons.
