Personal profile

Profile

I am interested in understanding the neurobiological mechanisms of depression and underlying rapid acting antidepressants, with special attention on the role of neuroplasticity and stress-induced neuroplasticity-related mechanisms. I am particularly interested in neuroplasticity at different levels in prefrontal cortex and hippocampus: structural plasticity, functional synaptic plasticity, and the molecular and cellular mechanisms accompanying such changes.

Job responsibilities

I work in animal studies (dissection of regions of interest, injections, and various behavioral tests), histology, molecular biology, animal surgery, primary neuronal cultures, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining, imaging techniques with different types of microscopies, and morphological image analysis in the brain.
