Research

Søren M. Sindbæk explores how networks shaped people's lives in the past and how they have shaped the world today. He investigates how urban societies developed, and how communication and exchange over long distances affected culture and environment. Much of his research focuses on the maritime connectivity in Northern Eurasia in the Viking-age. He is, among other things, known for the discovery of the Viking Age fortress Borgring, as well as excavations in Ribe, Scandinavia's earliest city.
