What does it mean to live a meaningful life in times of change and crisis? How is human thriving bound up with the lives and thriving of others – humans and other beings - in the past, the present, and the future?

These are the questions that is at the heart of my work and which I have explored during extensive ethnographic fieldwork in Central Asia – a region which has undergone profound change during recent decades and in which such questions have come up with urgency – as well as through theoretical interventions and the facilitation of, and engagement in, interdisciplinary conversations.

My research and publications in recent years has centered around the sub-themes possibility, spectrality, care, sharing, finitude and being-with: themes I have explored in relation to religious pluralism, aging and intergenerational relations in Kyrgyzstan.
