Erik R. Larsen is Professor of Management in the Department of Management, Arhus University, Denmark. He is also honorary Professor at the Facultad de Minas, Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Medellin). He was previously Professor of Management at University of Lugano (Switzerland), and before that Professor of Management at Cass Business School (London). He started his academic career as a post-doc at London Business School and EU-Marie Curie Fellow at University of Bologna. He received his PhD in Economics from Copenhagen Business School and a MSc in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
Research
Erik’s research covers the areas of organizational theory, operations and energy markets. He has published in journals within in these areas, including Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Science, Journal of Management, Management Science, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, Energy Policy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, and Energy Economics. The Swiss National Science Foundation, The Danish Independent Research Council and the EU have funded his research. He has been teaching and consulting for universities, companies and governments in Europe, North and South America, and Africa
Job responsibilities
Erik has held a wide range of administrative responsibilities. He served as Director of the PhD program and the BA in Management at Cass Business School (now Bayes Business School), as well as the MSc in Management and the MSc in Management and Informatics at the University of Lugano (USI). He co-founded the Executive Degree in Humanitarian Logistics and was also co-founder and co-director of the Executive MBA program at USI.
At Cass Business School, Erik was a member of the Research Committee, Courses Committee, and Board of Studies. At the University of Lugano, he served on the Tenure Committee, acted as Vice-Dean for Research, and was Head of Department. More recently, Erik has been a member of Aarhus University’s Ethics Committee, the Department’s Research Committee, and the Academic Council for the BSS Faculty.
