Personal profile

Research

I study the causes of democratization and democratic stability, including different types of democratic breakdown. I also study the causes and consequences of state capacity and bureaucratic quality or the lack thereof. Lastly, I study Scandinavian, and in particular Danish, political history. Primarily, I employ comparative methods and process tracing but also statistics.

Teaching

I have extensive experience with teaching most core political science subjects but I teach comparative politics and political institutions in particular. I specialize in teaching democracy and dictatorship and Danish political history at master's level. In addition, I teach basic qualitative methods and advanced level comparative methods and process tracing.
