Cristina Toca Pérez hold a PhD degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Brazil (2020). Dr. Pérez received her MSc in Environmental and Urban Engineering from UFBA, Brazil (2015). She obtained her BS in Public Works Engineering, Civil Construction specialty from the University of Cantabria (UC), Santander - Spain (2011). Cristina obtained the title in Specialist in Construction Management and Specialist in Structures and Pathologies of Buildings from the International master’s in technology, Rehabilitation and Construction Management from the Building Technology Group (GTED) of the UC (2011).
With more than eight years of experience as an Assistant Researcher at the Research and Extension Group in Construction Technology and Management (GETEC) located at the Department of Structural and Construction Engineering at the School of Engineering at UFBA, Brazil, Dr. Pérez is adept in construction management and innovation. Pérez had opportunities to work as visiting researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology - USA (2018-2019) and at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – Brazil (2014). Cristina’s research focuses on improving Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) Industry performance by adopting construction management tools and Information Technologies (IT). Her doctoral research, in 2018, was recognized in a Brazilian competition with the Academic Innovation Award by the Association of Owners of Real Estate Companies in Bahia - Brazil (ADEMI-BA) to reward the best research project applied in the Construction Industry.
Cristina worked as Assistant Professor for different undergraduate and graduate courses related to Construction Management, Lean Construction, Building systems, 4D Building Information Modeling (BIM), Design and Planning Construction Sites, Construction Cost Management and Construction Estimates, among others courses. Her previous experience as a professor was at SENAI CIMATEC Manufacturing and Technology Integrated Campus where she worked from 2017 to 2020.
