Research

I am conducting research on prescription drug use in the population with particular focus on outcomes in depression, schizophrenia and dementia. Using Danish registers, my goal is to provide knowledge about effective and safe use of psychotropic medication in the population. My research contributes to people with depression, schizophrenia or dementia being able to use prescription drugs effectively and safe.

Profile

As an associate professor, I conduct research in Pharmacoepidemiology in psychiatry. In my work, I am particularly interested in prescription drug exposure and outcomes in schizophrenia and depression using Danish register data and clinical databases. I have a degree in pharmacy and a PhD (Dr.rer.medic) from the University of Muenster, Germany and  a diploma in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the McGill University, Canada. I have experience with psychiatric and neurological disorders and cardiovascular diseases. My current roles include project supervisions of medical and PhD students, and national and international collaborations in my areas of interest.

Commissioned

I am a member of the board of the Danish Society of Personalised Medicine and participate in the drug committee of Aarhus University Hospital Psychiatry.

Cooperation and dissemination

I collaborate with national and international partners on register-based studies in pharamcoepidemiology of psychiatric and neurological disorders and in pharmacogenetics and pharmacoepigenetics in psychiatry.

Teaching

I teach pharmacoepidemiology project-based on the level of bachelor, master and PhD students. Using individualized approaches, my goal is for students to apply current research methods in a collaborative and interdisciplinary manner.

Job responsibilities

My primary area of responsibility is research including research supervision. I also work with knowledge transfer in clinical settings.
