Education:
1979        graduated as medical doctor from Aarhus University, Denmark.
1991        thesis defended: "Prostaglandins in Adipose Tissue - with special reference to Triglyceride Metabolism".
1993        medical specialist in endocrinology and internal medicin.
1993    Chief Physician and Associate Professor, Dept. Endocrinology and Metabolism, Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus Amtssygehus.
1999         Professor in Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition at Aarhus University, Medical Faculty.

Honorary office: I have been a member of the Danish Nutrition Council (1992 - 1995), chairman for the Danish Association for the Study of Obesity (1990 - 1994), member of the executive committee of the Danish Endocrine Society, and council member of the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) (from 1994) and member of the executive committee of EASO (from 1996 to 2000 as secretary).  Member of the Danish Medical Research Council ( 2001 -  2004  ). Vice-president in the Danish Nutrition Council (2001 -2002 ) and President for The Danish Nutrition Council from 2003. 

Opponent: Opponent at 22 Ph.D.- theses and 3 medical dissertations.

Supervision: Supervisor for 10 Ph.D.- theses, 2 doctoral dissertations,  and for several research projects for medical students.

Referee: Referee for several journals - particularly for International Journal of Obesity, European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Obesity Reviews , Diabetes, and Diabetology (10 - 20 manuscripts yearly).

Research and publications: Published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed international journals within the area of nutrition, adipose tissue metabolism, obesity,  obesity treatment, clinical trails, insulin resistance and diabetology.
