Research
Astrid Würtz Rasmussen's main research areas are applied microeconomics, family economics, and labour economics more broadly. One line of research focuses on the quality of early childhood education and care, as well as school quality. She has also investigated the sources of human capital formation and currently investigate the relation between the quantity and quality of children in families. Another strand of research focuses on effects on children (and parents) of 1) parental leave; and 2) divorces. The last strand of research is related to effects on labour market outcomes of having children. Topics include wage gaps, timing of motherhood, intergenerational transmission of leave length, and expectations of parenthood.

Astrid Würtz Rasmussen is Professor at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, Aarhus University. She is a member of the research group on 'Motherhood Penalties'. She holds a PhD in Economics from Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus (2008).
Commissioned
Astrid Würtz Rasmussen was appointed as member of the Danish government’s Wage Structure Committee (Lønstrukturkomitéen) as an expert member in 2021. The work concluded in June 2023 with a main report, many sub-reports, and presentations of the work to the media.

Teaching
Astrid Würtz Rasmussen is teaching a master’s course in Econometrics (Econometric Methods in Economic Consulting) offered for MSc. in International Economic Consulting students at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, Aarhus University. She also teaches an introductory course in Statistics as well as a course in Business Economics to HA students. In addition, Astrid undertakes supervision of bachelor theses, master theses, and topic reports as well as Ph.D. supervision.
