Associate professor

Artan Sheshmani

Artan Sheshmani is an Associate Professor of pure mathematics at Harvard University- Center for Mathematical Sciences and Applications and jointly Center for Quantum Geometry of Moduli spaces (QGM). His research is focused on Gromov Witten theory, Donaldson Thomas theory, Calabi-Yau geometries, and mathematical aspects of String theory. Artan mainly makes use of Algebraic Geometry techniques in his research, some of these are: Intersection theory and Derived Category theory. However, Representaion theory, Topology, Differential Geometry and Number Theory might also be employed to carry out the relevant computations in problems he is interested in. Artan recieved his PhD and Master's degrees in pure mathematics under Sheldon Katz and Thomas Nevins from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (USA) in 2011 and 2008 respectively, and he holds a Master's degree in Solid Mechanics (2004) and two Bachelor's degrees, in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology (Artan's updated Harvard webpage).
