PhD, Assistant Professor

Anna Zamm

I joined Aarhus University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cognitive Science (Department of Linguistics, Cognitive Science and Semiotics) in Fall 2021.

My research broadly addresses what factors allow humans to achieve the remarkable feat of synchronizing actions with one another in group behaviours such as ensemble music performance. Most of my work focuses specifically on the role of rhythm in facilitating interpersonal synchrony. I use a combination of behavioural and electroencephalography (EEG) methods to uncover mechanisms underlying synchrony.

Prior to joining AU, I was a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Social Mind and Body Lab at Central European University (Vienna/Budapest). Before that, I completed my PhD in Psychology (research area: Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience) at McGill University (Canada), and my undergraduate degree in Music and Psychology at Indiana University/Jacobs School of Music.
