Andreas Hänsel is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Engineering of Aarhus University.

He graduated from the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität (FSU) in Jena, Germany, with a Dipl.-Phys. degree, equivalent to a MSc.. He specialized in optics and theoretical physics, and continued his education in optics in the Netherlands, where he obtained his Ph.D degree in Technische Universitet Delft. In this research, he investigated spectroscopic applications for photonic integrated circuits. The title of the corresponding dissertation is “Applications of Spectroscopy with Multiwavelength Sources”.

In 2017, he joined the Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) group in the Department of Engineering of Aarhus University. His current research continues the investigation of photonic integration technologies and spectroscopy. This research finds applications in emission monitoring in agricultural companies, for which a PIC-based ammonia sensor is to be designed as part of the ECOMETA project.
