Personal profile

Profile

I am lead developer (senior curator) and an associate professor in a joint position at Moesgaard Museum and the Department of Anthropology at Aarhus University.

My research specializes in Oceania, and at the museum I contribute to the development of anthropological exhibitions and research. In my Oceania research, I specialize in two areas: 1. Local forms of ‘sharing economy’, gift exchange, and how money currently affects these practices. 2. Sailing and boat building of the region's own vessels, as well as people's relationship with the ocean more generally.

Currently, I am leading a research project on the understanding and feeling of home among people for whom home is many places and in motion. Key concepts and themes in my research include personhood, materiality, value, language and words, craft knowledge, skills, and learning. I also write about museum practice and other ways for anthropology to be presented beyond academic text, and I teach knowledge dissemination.
