Personal profile
Research
I am a passionate researcher in environmental chemistry and biology, driven by a deep curiosity about what defines ecosystem health in aquatic environments. Beginning with a bio‑electrochemistry internship, I earned an MSc in Sustainable Biotechnology and then pursued a PhD focused on constructed wetlands for water treatment. I investigated wetland design, operation, cyanotoxin removal, and the formation of transformation products, always combining advanced analytical chemistry and molecular‑biology techniques. After completing my doctorate in April 2024, I embarked on a postdoctoral fellowship in early 2025, where I am now involved in three projects advancing RNA‑based ecological indicators and full‑scale treatment wetlands.
Cooperation and dissemination
I thrive in a collaborative environment. I have completed research placements in SINTEF (BRISK2, Norway - 2 months in 2018), Technological University of Pereira (TOXICROP, Colombia, 2 weeks in 2022 and 4 months in 2023), and Muhammadiyah University of Pontianak (NEUTRAL4GS, Indonesia, 1 month in 2025) through different European research exchange grants. I have collaborated with different organizations (Italy, Spain, Morocco, Slovenia...), culminating in several scientific publications.
Teaching
I have supervised over ten MSc, BSc and internship theses across nine European institutions, often through Erasmus+ placements. I co‑supervise two current MSc students working on nature‑based solutions and micropollutant biodegradation. I serve as a teaching assistant for the biennial PhD course “Treatment Wetlands for Water Pollution Control” at Aarhus University and as guest lecturer for DTU’s “Water Technology and Management” module, bringing real‑world wetland case studies into the classroom.
