Vision
We will generate innovative business-related cultural research, and disseminate knowledge on such research nationally and internationally, in order to meet the challenges of an ever-changing and complex world.

Mission
Our point of departure is an emergent, dynamic and process-oriented understanding of culture as created in linguistic and social interactions between individuals and in relation to organisations and society. We examine cultural practices which intersect language, communication and knowledge, such as: intercultural communication, text and discourse, political culture, creation of public opinion and meaning, internationalisation, globalisation and rhetorical strategies.

At present, the affiliated researchers are engaged in the following research areas:

  • a cultural approach to global markets and its impact on market communication
  • globalization in corporate language use
  • globalisation from a complex cultural perspective
  • strategy development processes from an intercultural discourse perspective
  • emergent culture perspective and interview based research
  • internationalisation as a socio-cultural change process
  • intercultural learning
  • cultural expressions in internal organisational communication
  • the influence of external perceptions on companies' self-representations
  • the cultural significance of empathy as part of a corporate credibility discourse

Objective
Our objective is to create an inspiring, challenging and stimulating research forum for the unit's members and for our international and Danish partners. We aim at developing a research environment in business-related cultural research that enables us as individual researchers and as a research unit to achieve our professional objectives in the best way possible.

We will achieve this by:

  • carrying out interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary business-relevant cultural research
  • actively participating in professional associations, networks and other societies
  • publishing the results of our research predominately in international journals
  • organising and participating in international and Danish research seminars and conferences
  • inviting relevant international guest researchers to whom the unit can offer a research environment
  • applying for external funds for the research unit in order to perform research projects
  • adding relevant competences to the research unit by employing PhD students, assistant professors and, particularly, more full-time staff in the unit, both via ASB/the department and via external funds
  • sharing our knowledge through both research-based teaching and extensive research dissemination, e.g. in the form of lectures and broad publishing activities.
