Translating culture and cultural exchange, creatively, linguistically and theoretically, is key to the study of transnational television. How to make sense of the crossing of various borders requires translation skills, not only in terms of understanding the geopolitics of how television culture and content is produced, traded and adapted, reimagined and repositioned in different territories, but also, and more importantly, what are the appropriate skills required by scholars to research and make sense of television in global circulation, as it migrates from one territory to another in translation and being translated. This course deals with translation matters and explores the key issues and challenges of translation for researching transnational television.
