Description
Process tracing methods have experienced a surge in popularity within the social sciences in recent years. Yet despite the widespread use and the utility it has in causal research, the method is woefully underdeveloped. This workshop will introduce recent developments in Process Tracing methodology, including: 1) the underlying logic of process tracing methods, 2) the Bayesian logic of inference used to make strong within-case inferences that does not currently exist, and 3) provides a guideline for using process tracing methods in practice. The workshop is based on my forthcoming book (2012) Process Tracing methods – Foundations and Guidelines. (with Rasmus Brun Pedersen), Ann Arbor: University of Michigan Press.
