The talk will discuss the mixed media artwork LIGHT – Landscape and
Voices. A little background info (more at www.lysogstemmer.dk):
In the spring of 2011 Elle-Mie Ejdrup Hansen and I travelled around the
six municipalities of Kulturring East Jutland in Denmark, in a specially
fitted caravan, a mobile sound studio, where people were invited inside
to read Inger Christensen’s poem ‘Light’ aloud. During the reading in the
caravan people experienced how their voices interacted with large
digitalized landscape drawings, documented in the form of videos
available on the web. The collected 758 voices became the user
generated raw material for a sound composition played through 24
outdoor speakers, designed together with the local audio company
DynAudio, performed six evenings in September 2011 in different
landscapes. The project is being developed in an international context
leading up to Aarhus being the cultural capital in 2017.
