Hot-Wired: From Printed to Digital Interaction in the Peri-Narrative Realism of Toys and Romance

Activity: Talk or presentation typesLecture and oral contribution

    Description

The main hypothesis of the presentation is that increasingly participatory websites have allowed romance readers, typically seen as conservative, poorly educated and very private consumers of a genre, to share, explore, and participate in a widening field of information. This hypothesis is situated within an argument about the complex relations worked out, in literature and material culture, as we move from printed to digital narratives, from mass production back to unique works of art, from "readers" to "users".
