Using multispectral imaging for seed quality assessment

New methods for seed quality assessment emerge with increasing technological possibilities and computer power. Multi- and hyperspectral imaging and analysis of the generated data are examples of these developments. The light sources, cameras and computers for such systems are readily available and relatively affordable. This opens a wide array of potential applications in seed quality assessment and testing at different levels as well as research opportunities that before were only possible for a few very specialized institutions. The given examples of the possible use of multispectral imaging in seed quality assessment proves that this technology provides opportunities to the seed community.
