N2 - The paper reflects on Utzon's experience from the Sydney Opera house with acoustics which is developed from basic knowledge about acoustics such as how volume, shapes and surface materials affect the acoustic result and how it fits with the architecture. Especially Utzon demonstrated a delicate tectonic design by integrating space, shape and materials - three factors which are closely related to the architectural expression, and which are all of crucial importance to the acoustics. Therefore unfolding Utzon's experience with acoustics may serve as great learning which is addressed in more details in the present paper.
