Abstract

Despite the politics of surveillance implicit in ‘making visible’, transparency continues to be widely perceived as representative of greater accountability, better governance, and reduced corruption, as all the articles in this virtual issue demonstrate. Yet, critiques of transparency found throughout these articles reveal the opacity of the term itself.
