    Abstract

    The reason for involving children in research emerges from a renewed interest in seeing the world from the children's point of view. The genral objective is to optain knowledge to improve the conditions for children, i.e. the conditions that fulfil the children's real needs and rights to be involved as active participants (c. the UN Children Convention, 1989. This article discuss different ways to involve the children andt the methods that are related. They can have roles as respondents, informants, and social actors. The spceific role depends on the research design. Examples of how to organize the research processes in order to adress theses problem areas are discussed
