Abstract

In this position paper, we foreground teaching children-AI perspectives in the design of technologies. We wish to contribute to the workshop by raising questions that come with our entanglement with complex social-ecological-
technological systems. Embracing such questions challenges the very foundation of our research and teaching practices in child-computer interaction (CCI) that heavily bank upon human-centred design approaches. So, what has to be unlearned to change our perspectives and attitudes toward more-than-human worlds in CCI? What new type of ethical reflections does it entail on how and why humans should apply AI in connection to the more-than-human realms of children? And what characterises such a holistic rethink of what it means to make ethical design assessments in CCI? Hopefully, the outcome of participating in the workshop will be considerations in teaching children-AI entanglements, which embrace more-than-human values and perspectives in technology design that can infuse future CCI teaching activities.
