In December 2006, the American Time Magazine raised an essential question
regarding “How to build a student for the 21st Century” by underlining “How
to Bring Our Schools Out of the 20th Century” and into the 21st Century. In the article by Claudia Wallis and Sonja Steptoe, they problematised how “the world has changed, but the American classroom, for the most part, hasn’t. Now educators are starting to look at what must be done to make sure our kids make he grade in the new global economy”. Today you see slogans like “Make Education Great Again - Building the 21st Century Student” following the lines of the slogan “Make America Great Again” posted by the American President Donald Trump during his election campaign in 2016. In order to make education great again, the educational systems worldwide apparently need to adapt to a rethinking and reshaping of the educational system developed in the era of industrialisation.
